Your phone will connect directly onto the car's touch screen. There you will see all your familiar app icons. As an added safety feature, you cannot use CarPlay while driving; it remains locked.
Everything is controlled via the touchscreen. You use your vehicle's own screen controls, or if you prefer, use Siri, which allows speech commands.

Use CarPlay for phoning, texting, and entertainment. For the phone, you can make and receive calls either on screen or through Siri.
Instead of trying to text and drive, now you can use Siri to send those texts and have your incoming messages read out loud to you. Much safer and more convenient!
